The state of Alaska is developing an Affordable Energy Strategy in an effort to ensure the future natural gas pipeline will benefit communities who do not directly receive gas. The plan will use funding from a gas tax to invest in energy improvements for rural Alaska. CCHRC is partnering with the Vermont Energy Investment Company, a national leader in energy efficiency, to analyze efficiency programs and determine the most cost-effective ones for rural Alaska. With state revenue on the decline, this study could lay the groundwork for the future of state-funded energy efficiency programs in Alaska.
